Because everyone needs a blog, apparently. Personally I think everyone needs a pair of Converses. |

Monday, December 05, 2005 Access All Areas
GTV likes to take itself seriously, afterall we have all this cool equipment and impressive press passes, but we also like to have fun whilst we're doing it, which is why we decided we would go to Fab & Fresh, film a bit, attempt to get interviews then just have a good night and get drunk*.
First obstacle of the night, security wouldn't let us past to go and see if we could blag an interview with Bradley [who used to be in SClub]. This was a foreign concept for people, who for the whole term had been able to access all areas of the guild on event nights purely because they had a press pass. Security told us to ask some guy but we decided to ask his manager who pretty much agreed but had to go to his car first. Then we overheard security talking about Katie Hill. Now here's where something else happened that we weren't used to. Security wouldn't tell us where she was. Usually security tell us if they know, even if they tell us wrongly. This woman however, only told us she was down the corridor and answered no to every one of our guesses. So we split and me and Tash ran off to find her leaving Kirst and Ali to deal with getting another camera, the Bradley interview and security. Having found the room relatively easily, we then discovered she'd gone to the loo. Very odd since, well I've never thought about it, but you don't think about celebs needing the loo. When she was going back into the room, we asked for an interview and about a minute later her manager let us in. Interview over and we ran back to where we'd left Kirst and Ali only to find them running up the stairs and towards security [and the barrier] yelling to us that when they'd gone to get the camera, they neglected to get a tape to put in said camera. Whilst this may have looked unprofessional, GTV then managed to get this credibility back by going back in with two cameras. Second interview successfully completed** we made our way downstairs to where Katie Hill was dj-ing. After standing so close to the dj booth that I was practically shoving the camera in her face, I decided that her waving and the maybe five seconds I got of her was enough. Few crowd shots later and we put the camera away and decided to generally have a good night. GTV hanging with Redbrick to ensure people there really is no rivalry in the Media Centre, which resulted in having purple hazes*** and some argument over whether this was the new Media Centre drink or not. *Welcome to the world of Nik's essays. I write long sentences. **With some hilarity caused by his phone ringing in the middle... ***Red and blue Aftershock. Combined.
