Last night, after a stressful but relatively interesting two hour seminar on Titus Andronicus*, I found myself down at GTV...again. I seem to spend most of my life down there. I say most because when I'm not down there, I'm in my room working or in the library working. The occasion for being down at our studios? Well the GMTG were putting on a production of Sweet Charity and had asked us to film it. Never one to miss an opportunity to see a theatrical production for free, especially a musical I've not seen before, I ventured out on the freezing cold walk to our guild. We had two cameras -one for close ups and one up on Deb Hall balcony for a stage wide constant shot. Kirsty and I were doing close ups, so were right on the side of the stage. I thought the overall production was quite good, obviously I can't compare it to the film as I've never seen it. At times the dancing was a bit repetitious and at nearly three hours, they could have easily cut it down. I'm not sure about the ending either, I mean, after the whole BBC adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing, I realised I subscribe to the whole it-should-have-a-happy-ending-philosophy and this didn't. However, by ending it like that, it leaves you thinking about the character of Charity, about what is going to happen to her and is she going to be stuck in this continuous circle her whole life?


*I really do like this play - I read it in a day - but to blog about it would take a whole post so let's just say, I.O.U a blog entry on Titus Andronicus.
