Because everyone needs a blog, apparently. Personally I think everyone needs a pair of Converses.

Join the Debate: Narnia and Team Cleaver

Last week OJ/Lemmy/Lemonade came over from America to visit. That meant that with my essays done, everything else was put on hold and a sightseeing trip round London was organised with an imminent tube strike and a whole day of rain. It also meant travelling from London to Birmingham, Birmingham to Reading, Reading to Heathrow and back, and then a trip back from Reading to Birmingham - more travelling than I want to do in an entire term.
Lemmy and I agree on a lots of things, we agree that the slid shid game is fun, we agree that after a break of three months we now suck at it, and we agree that James McAvoy is hot as a fawn*. We do not, however, agree on "sexual tension between Lucy and Tumnus"**. In light of the previous two statements, it is no wonder that when it rained the day we wanted to go ice skating, we ended up at the cinema with Womble, seeing The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe again. We laughed at the fact that there is no blood; the only person who seems to bleed is Edmund. We cheered and/or laughed and made stupid comments when James McAvoy entered a scene. And we sat through the credits***. So when, later in the week, we found ourselves in Reading with Carrot/Karaoke who had not seen it yet, we unselfishly offered to go see it again with her. So once again, Lemmy and I found ourselves in a cinema watching Narnia****, albeit a cinema where the people behind us were incapable of being quiet and people in general were incapable of staying in their seats for the duration of the movie. There was also a lack of popcorn due to the fact that we had spent the hour before in Pizza Hut discussing exactly why Lemmy thought a bike that had just gone past the window was a steam train, amongst other things.
Other discussions during the week included such insights as:
    • whether one would want "fawn pants"
    • whose side we should be on in the great Cleaver/Darcy debate - one which was frequently debated complete with much yelling at tv
    • the difference between English and American keyboards thus leading to lots of spelling errors
    • whether when Lemmy puts on an English accent and reads cooking instructions she sounds like the English twin from The Parent Trap
    • whether if someone stole our stuff from the kitchen, we would be better off crying or getting Peter from Narnia to fight for us

Good week all round, complete with mocking of people at the airport, lots of woo woo and random photos.

*Yep, that sentence is still weird.
**Neither do we agree on the whole Gene Wilder debate, but that's another story entirely...
***I also, may have, practically screamed when they showed the Pirates of the Caribbean trailer.
****In case you were interested, my Narnia count now stands at 4.
