Because everyone needs a blog, apparently. Personally I think everyone needs a pair of Converses.

Sports, Alcohol and Books: My life summed up in three words

I had to come home for the weekend because it was my Dad's 60th birthday on Friday and I was under strict orders to come home for his party on Saturday. Whilst here, I have discovered a couple of good things about being at home:

    • Ice Hockey. We have freeview at home, which means we get interactive, which means they show THE WHOLE of the ice hockey matches. BBC terestrial tv coverage shows, if you're lucky, about ten minutes of ice hockey compared to the hours on end of dancing on ice. I have had this rant to numerous people, all of whom argue that they like watching figure skating and clearly the British public do too, or they wouldn't devote so much time to it. Fair enough. I get bored of it; they have to do the same technical elements with their own transitions and after a while I get bored of seeing the same thing. I'd rather watch speed skating. Or downhill skiing. Or pretty much any other Winter Olympic sport apart from curling.
    • Wine. Good wine. The amount of drinks my folks bought for this party was ridiculous! Half of it ended up going back but not before I'd tried the Rose and mentioned that I liked it. Within an hour I had procured a bottle, which Corinne and I will be drinking tonight*.
    • Books. Well more specifically The Waves. I get bored at home, so apart from watching tv, there is nothing else to do but read. I bought The Waves home because it is one of the hardest books by Woolf and I decided I needed to read it in a concentrated period of time. Consequently I spend the weekend reading it; I've finished it, really enjoyed it and now Corinne owes me a chocolate bar.

*Yes I know, before anyone says anything. I will ration her.
